There is clear evidence that the physical aspects of learning environments do impact on pupils’ learning progress (Clever Classrooms, Summary report of the HEAD project 2015). As a Trust we want all our classrooms and learning spaces to enhance teaching and learning and effectively support learner needs. To support these desired outcomes, we have developed a Trust wide audit tool that sets out our ‘Minimum Expectations of Learning Environments’. This tool identifies the essential physical resources as well as the environmental and inclusive considerations that when in place actively support learners in the classroom. The audit tool is used by schools and teachers to ensure that classrooms are not just a place of learning but a place that supports learning.

If you would like to know how the Sea View Trust can support an internal audit of your learning spaces using our audit tool, then please contact us at trustoffice@theviewtrust.org
