The Sea View Trust is nominated for Environmental MAT of The Year 2026

The MAT Excellence Awards are all about celebrating excellence and impact in school trusts and businesses.

The Sea View Trust has been shortlisted for Environmental MAT of The Year 2026. This is an incredible achievement for The Sea View Trust on its mission to deliver on its Trust Climate Action Plan, ensuring all facilities across the Trust are effectively progressing in their Net Zero journeys. This week, the awards ceremony will be held in London on Thursday 11^th June

The Sea View Trust has placed sustainability at the heart of its mission, delivering a trust-wide decarbonisation program, installing heat pumps, solar PV, and insulation upgrades to five of its schools in one coordinated project. Saving 311.61 tCO₂ annually, the trust is driving measurable progress towards Net Zero while empowering pupils to become the sustainability leaders of tomorrow – through Environmental Action Plans across all settings.

 

Nero Energy's role

Nero Energy have been a key partner in supporting the Trust to improve and further develop their Climate Action Plan and Decarbonisation journey.

Nero Energy is a Blackpool-based UK energy management and decarbonisation consultancy that helps organisations cut carbon and cost while managing their energy intelligently. Nero partnered with The Sea View Trust to turn a bold Net Zero ambition into a deliverable, estate-wide programme.

Rather than tackling each school in isolation, Nero designed and project-managed the works as a single, coordinated programme across all five schools assessing each building, designing the improvements, and overseeing the installation of air source heat pumps, solar PV, insulation, electrical capacity upgrades and energy monitoring. The result is lasting environmental change: 311.61 tCO₂ saved annually, lower running costs, warmer learning environments, and a credible platform for the Trust's pupil-led Environmental Action Plans.
